Lyrics

The bills that pile up are unforgiving
I took the job thinking it won’t be long
‘Til I find something that let’s me earn a living
But it’s been years and nothing’s come along

My baby’s sad because she never sees me
I’m waking up just as she goes to bed
Good morning and goodnight have lost their meaning
Graveyard shift is getting to my head

My body’s sore and my back is aching
And after work I’d like to crack a beer
But when you punch the clock when dawn is breaking
The bars are never open around here

I just want to walk out in the sunshine
Hold your hand under the bright blue sky
But the life I live takes place in the nighttime
Working graveyard shifts until I die
